SE Systems Powers the Rob Heffernan Cork AC 1 Mile Race 2025
The spirit of sport, community, and celebration came alive on Friday, September 12th, as more than 600 runners took to the start line for the Rob Heffernan Cork AC 1 Mile Race at the Marina, Cork. The event, proudly sponsored by SE Systems, brought together athletes of all ages and abilities – from enthusiastic first timers and young children to over-60s and elite competitors – for an evening that celebrated health, energy, and local pride.
One of the main sponsors, SE Systems helped power the event from start to finish. SE Systems were present throughout the Blackrock village, supporting the event setup and engaging with runners and families at their pop-up clinic.
Families enjoyed a lively festival atmosphere, complete with a face painter for the children and a 360-degree camera booth where participants captured memories of the evening with props and smiles.
Beyond the race itself, the event evolved into a community celebration. On the main stage, The Oars delivered an energetic live performance and DJ Stevie G kept the crowd entertained late into the evening, creating a atmosphere that reflected the passion and inclusivity at the heart of Cork’s athletics community.
Rob Heffernan thanked SE Systems for helping make the event possible:
“Without their (SE Systems) support we wouldn’t have been able to put on the big show. Not only was it an athletics event but we had the big stage in the village, we had music, we had food vendors.”
Youenn Lowry, Managing Director of SE Systems, also spoke about the company’s motivation for supporting the event:
“We are all about community and energy and passion. We love to get behind communities and it’s fantastic to see so many young people, men and women, of all ages at a community event.”
The success of this year’s event reinforces SE Systems’ belief that community empowerment goes beyond sustainable energy projects. Whether through the Community Fund Open Call, local sponsorships, or partnerships with organisations like Cork Camogie and Cork AC, SE Systems continues to invest in initiatives that bring people together and make a lasting impact.
Looking ahead, Rob Heffernan and his team plan to grow the race even further in 2026, promising an even bigger and better event next year. For SE Systems, this partnership is more than sponsorship it’s another step in building stronger, healthier, and more connected communities across Cork and beyond.
