The Challenge

Drinagh is a large, multi-purpose co-operative based in West Cork, they have 15 outlets supplying a wide range of products. They also operate a Mill in Drinagh which has been involved in the manufacture of animal feeds since the early 1970’s. Drinagh Co-Op were seeking solutions to reduce their electrical consumption and environmental impact across their stores.

The Solution

In 2020, 7 stores were identified to upgrade the inefficient lighting to LED lighting. In 2021 a compressor was also upgraded in the Mill.

SE Systems assisted Drinagh with project procurement for the lighting upgrades, advised on grants available and managed the administration of the SEAI Community Energy grant.

The Impact

Collectively, these projects resulted in a significant total energy savings of 253388 kWh, showcasing the impactful outcomes of the implemented solutions. Each location experienced reductions in electrical consumption, contributing to a reduced carbon footprint across the 7 sites for Drinagh.
