The Challenge
In 2021, SE Systems partnered with Educate Together National School to implement an energy-efficient lighting upgrade. The project involved the installation of 103 LED lights, enhancing illumination while reducing electricity consumption.
The challenge addressed by SE Systems was to improve the lighting infrastructure of Educate Together National School, aiming for energy efficiency and sustainability.
The Solution
An energy audit was carried out which identified several energy efficiency upgrades that could be carried out in the school. Following a review of the recommendations with the energy consultant, the School decided that upgrading the lighting to more energy efficient LED’s would be the best investment with the budget they had.
SE Systems assisted the school by coordinating a tender for the lighting upgrade as well as applying for the SEAI Community Energy Grant on their behalf. In 2021, following grant approval from the SEAI, the new LED lighting was installed throughout the school. This project improved the illumination levels throughout the school while also leading to a decrease in their overall energy requirements and ultimately their energy bills.
The Impact
The implemented solution resulted in significant energy savings, (741.06 kWh annually) and improved lighting quality at Corks Educate Together National School. The upgrades also contributed to a more environmentally friendly educational environment and was the first step on their schools retrofitting journey.
