Tesco 2022

Summary
Client: Tesco
Location: Various Locations across Ireland
Sector: Retail
The Challenge
In 2009, Tesco became the first business globally to set the ambitious target to become a zero-carbon business by 2050. In 2017, it committed to science-based climate targets for its own operations on a 1.5-degree trajectory, in line with the aspiration of the Paris Agreement.
One key activity Tesco wanted to focus on was accelerating operational decarbonisation across key emission hotspots such as refrigeration, heating, and transport.
One of the main challenges associated with this project was to upgrade the existing inefficient refrigeration units and outdoor packs to new energy saving and lower global warming potential (GWP) equivalents. Significant care and project coordination was required during the installation phase of this project to ensure all works, carried out at night, did not disrupt the day to day store operations.
