The Challenge
The Europe Hotel is situated on the shores of Lough Léin in Kerry. The hotel was seeing Increasingly high energy bills and were looking for solutions to reduce their environmental footprint. A key challenge in providing a suitable decarbonisation solution was ensuring that all works were scheduled and managed to ensure minimum disruption to the day to day operations in the hotel.
The Solution
The Europe Hotel in line with their Environmental & Sustainability Policy are committed to contributing to a cleaner and safer environment and ensure environmental issues remain a focal point and receive proper attention. In 2023, a 71.3kWp Solar PV System was installed to generate clean renewable electricity for the hotel along with installing a new energy efficiency VRV heating and cooling system in the hotel.
The Impact
The hotel is now generating 58156 kWh of its own electricity on site annually through the installation of the Solar PV panels as well as thermal savings of 266131 kWh through the new heating and cooling system. This successful completion of this project has reduced the Europe Hotels energy bills and is a forward step in their decarbonisation journey, while also providing a sustainable and comfortable environment for their staff and residents.
